On-Campus Academic Programs
Professionals working in diverse careers are seeking training in gerontology (aging) to assist them in working with the aged population. This rapidly growing segment of our population in the United States and Western society is creating an increasing demand for personnel in a variety of occupations and professions who possess specialized training.
K-State offers two programs to allow students the opportunity to integrate knowledge received in their major professional disciplines with a program of academic study and field experience in gerontology. These options provide students the opportunity to integrate knowledge received in their major professional disciplines with a program of academic study and field experience in gerontology. These programs will be of special interest to students preparing for careers in such diverse fields as social work, architecture, psychology, management, marketing, medicine, biology, family economics, law, ministry, community and regional planning, sociology, public administration, family studies, speech pathology, nursing, horticulture therapy, clothing, interior design, media, physical therapy, long term care, or foods and nutrition among others.
The K-State Gerontology program is interdisciplinary, drawing from departments across campus to give the student a more thorough knowledge of the field.
