Apparel and Textiles
Welcome to the exciting world of apparel design, production, and marketing! Students studying in apparel and textiles are prepared for a wide variety of careers in the fashion industry, on either the design, marketing or retail ends of the spectrum.
All students begin the program as apparel and textiles majors and take the same core professional courses. Students who want to specialize in apparel design and production must be aware that admission to this specialized track is limited and competitive. Students can apply after completion of prerequisite courses if they meet all other requirements (eligible students usually apply during their second year). Other students choose to follow the apparel marketing track to prepare for careers in the business, marketing and retail aspects of the fashion industry.
All students are encouraged to supplement their professional education with elective study in business and art. Likewise, during their junior or senior year, students can complete supervised field experiences in apparel design, production, or retailing. Study tours and other study abroad opportunities are also highly encouraged.
