Academic Colleagues and Affiliations
The College has several formal partnerships and programs to make higher education accessible to people living all across the globe.
- Institute for Academic Alliances — The IAA at K-State helps other institutions research, develop and implement inter-institutional academic programs that are a cost-effective alternative to single institution offerings. The cost of program development and delivery are shared among institutions.
- Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance — This consortium of Midwestern universities provides fully online graduate certificate and master’s programs in academic disciplines within the human sciences.
- 2 + 2 Distance Dietetics Program with Barton County Community College — K-State’s Distance Dietetics Programs have a formal affiliation with Barton County Community College to help students from all over the world complete their entire four-year bachelor’s degree in dietetics online (students are required to complete field experience in their home community in addition to online coursework). Students take general education and lower-level dietetics courses through Barton County and earn an associate degree with dietary manager emphasis degree. Then, courses seamlessly transfer toward either the didactic or coordinated online programs at K-State.
- Kansas Bridges to the Future Program — Students from under-represented racial or ethnic groups in the biomedical sciences may qualify for the Bridges to the Future Program, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. The program is aimed at minority students who want to begin their studies at one of the five participating Kansas community colleges and later transfer to Kansas State University to complete their bachelor’s degree. This program offers full tuition at the community college and at Kansas State University to those who enter and continue with the program.
