Short Biography:
Dr. Sherry Haar received B.S. and M.S. degrees at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and a Ph.D. degree at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Haar has received awards for both her wearable art and functional design scholarship. Dr. Haar holds two patents on therapeutic designs for children with sensory dysfunctions. In addition to scholarship in creative and functional design, Dr. Haar works collaboratively to access the role of costume in literacy development.
Dr. Haar’s teaching has been recognized with teaching and student development awards. Course topics instructed by Dr. Haar include aesthetics and visual presentation, fashion illustration, computer aided design and pre-production (Lectra, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop), pattern development, apparel and textile product development and textile surface design.
