Short Biography:
Joy Kozar received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in apparel and textile marketing from Kansas State University. While working on her undergraduate education, she also completed a minor in business administration. In 2004, Kozar graduated with a Ph.D. in textiles and clothing from Iowa State University, where she received a minor in gerontology as part of her scholarship focus on older consumers. Dr. Kozar has experience teaching a variety of classes, including apparel and textile marketing, entrepreneurship, visual merchandising, principles of buying, globalization and apparel and textile trade, and consumer behavior. Her research endeavors center on three major areas, including:
- consumer loyalty and purchasing behavior, particularly
research on the older adult market segment; - social and psychological
aspects of dress and appearance, including topics examining social
comparison and media and advertising influence on body image,
satisfaction, and self-perception; and - global issues in the
production and distribution of apparel and textile goods, including
topics related to social responsibility, labor exploitation in the
production of goods, and governmental and industry responses to
sweatshop concerns.
