Short Biography:
Dr. Elizabeth McCullough currently holds a joint appointment at Kansas State University as a Professor in the Department of Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design and as the Co-Director of the Institute for Environmental Research in the College of Engineering. She is well known for her research on the thermal and barrier properties of fabrics and on the development and evaluation of sleeping bags and protective clothing systems. She has generated over three million dollars in external funds for research grants and contracts to date. She has given 115 presentations at national and international meetings and published over 80 scientific papers. She has received national awards including the Ralph F. Nevins Award from ASHRAE for significant accomplishments in the area of physiology and human response to the environment, the Harold DeWitt Smith Memorial Medal from ASTM Committee D-13 on Textiles for outstanding research in textiles, the Outstanding Service Award from ASTM Committee F-23 for her leadership as chair of Human Factors, the Distinguished Scholar Award from the International Textiles and Apparel Association, the Best Technical Paper Award from INDA, and the Manufactured Fiber Research Award from the American Fiber Manufacturers Association. She has received the KSU College of Human Ecology Outstanding Research Award and the KSU Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award also.
