Education Support Technologist

The employee will serve on a team that provides consultation with internal customers on various aspects of assessment, design, development, delivery/implementation, evaluation and maintenance of instructional design and capacity building opportunities of individuals, teams, units, divisions, and the SRS agency as a whole. This position supports the team’s work through project inception, planning, implementation and evaluation. Additionally, this position will be responsible for developing marketing and promotional materials, in both printed and electronic format to inform and raise awareness of the supports and services provided by Strategic Development.

The Education Support Technologist will work with strategic development staff to utilize appropriate software programs and templates for preparation of trainer manuals, supporting training materials, visual aids, case studies and exercises according to specifications outlined in consultation with subject matter experts. The materials produced and maintained to support agency learning may also include Web 2.0 tools and methods in addition to traditional training materials mentioned above.

Responsibilities:

Subject matter experts in the agency will provide the Education Support Technologist with content of learning materials, information about target audience and learning objectives. The Instructional Technology Specialist will use this information to evaluate and analyze the materials for the purpose of identifying appropriate instructional delivery format for presentation. The Instructional Technology Specialist will then design, develop and format learning objects and perform the actions of a graphic designer in layout, copy preparation and brand development with the use of computer software such as Word, InDesign, Power Point and Lectora. The end result of these actions will produce trainer and participant manuals, handout materials, PowerPoint slide presentations, charts, graphs and other training related materials/publications. The employee will also provide input into the design, development and maintenance of self-directed learning tools such as online modules, wiki pages and discussion threads by incorporating the same computing and graphic design skills used to produce learning materials.

Designs and prepares certificates, brochures, promotional materials, electronic marketing materials, and agency forms using appropriate computer software programs and abiding by Kansas graphical standards.

Participates in department, division and unit activities by attending meetings, tracking work tasks, and contributing to team projects. Work is monitored through observation, feedback from work teams and review of participation in activities, as well as any outcomes resulting from participation.

Bachelor’s Degree required along with extensive experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Live Meeting, InDesign, and SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Live Meeting, SharePoint InDesign, Camtasia, Lectora, Knowledge of marketing, graphic design and production, photography preferred.
