Program Assistant, Human Nutrition
Kansas State University, Department of Human Nutrition through the K-State Research and Extension EFNEP program is seeking a full-time program assistant to provide nutrition education in both Spanish and English to low-income families with young children.
The person in this position will:
- enroll clients
- plan and deliver primarily Spanish-language EFNEP nutrition education at sites in Finney, Seward, Grant and Ford counties
- recruit EFNEP-eligible persons for program enrollment
- prepare reports and attend agent meetings and trainings
The main office is in Garden City but travel to the listed counties is required. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and auto insurance are required. Excellent English and Spanish oral/written communication skills required. Bachelor’s degree in education, nutrition or related family consumer science/health field and knowledge of services available to and local culture of Hispanic population in SW Kansas is required.
Preferred qualifications include basic computer competency, food, cooking and nutrition knowledge and ability. Skill working with limited resource families is preferred.
