Validation of Credit

Advanced Credit for Domestic and International Evaluations

Kansas State University does not automatically accept credit from a number of domestic and most international post-secondary institutions. There are many variations in educational systems throughout the world that make exact comparisons of educational standards difficult. The following methods are used by Kansas State University to validate the awarding of advanced credit for international students who have completed work in their home countries at the postsecondary level:

  1. Credit is granted based upon recommendations by recognized academic publications, primarily the World Education Series of American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
  2. Validation by a comparable credit-granting department at Kansas State University. Validation will be at the discretion of the credit-granting department. These evaluations may be done on a course-by-course basis through examination of course syllabi, oral or written examinations and/or any other method necessary to determine evaluation.

Request for Validation Procedures

  1. Once a student is enrolled at Kansas State University, he or she may request that the Transfer Coordinator, Admissions Office, or Dean's Office representative review credentials for possible validation.
  2. Transfer Coordinator or Dean's Office completes validation forms for courses that have a possibility of validation.
  3. Student takes supporting documents and validation form to the department offices for signature.
  4. Department Head signs (if validation request is approved) and mails form to student's Dean's Office. Form is destroyed if request is denied.
  5. Dean's Office signs validation form and mails to Transfer Coordinator.
  6. Transfer Coordinator completes the process and returns a copy of form to Dean's Office.
