Network Support Group Services
Our HUMEC computing environment basically consists of Microsoft Windows-based workstations and servers running Novell NetWare. Although we will assist you with other technological issues, our staff's expertise lies with the services listed below:
- Applications
- Our servers deliver a multitude of applications. Our support staff's expertise primarily lies with MS Office, Pegasus Mail, Mozilla products, Internet Explorer, and Oracle Calendar.
- Backup Services
- Daily archiving of all network files.
- Documentation
- Maintain inventory of users, services, and devices.
- Building Networking, Wired and Wireless
- Coordinate with CTS to deliver network connectivity.
- File Storage
- Over 1TB of disk space is available for individual and shared file storage services.
- FTP/Netstorage
- Provide remote file services to all HUMEC users.
- Hardware Support
- Our expertise lies with Windows computers, Dell hardware, and HP Network Printers.
- Listserv Hosting
- Maintain over 75 listservs.
- Maintain Common Computing Environments
- Service dept and college technology classrooms and carts, labs, and student workrooms.
- Network Printing
- Manage 55 network printers.
- Network Servers
- Maintaive Netware, Windows, and linux servers (virtual and physical).
- Training
- Deliver various sessions on computing topics and open sessions.
- User Support
- Assistance is provided to all HUMEC account holders. We generally support Windows computers running Windows XP and printing to HP Network Printers. We respond to 2,000 requests annually.
- Virus Control
- Prevent and control damage to software and data from computer viruses.
